Welcome to Implant Surgical Guide Training Course. On enrolling you will be sent a Welcome pack as one of the Anthogyr Network. The Pack will outline your User Credentials to navigate through the online portal.

Practical

Application of your theory. Our Clinical Lead Lecturer(s), Hugo Patrao & Dr Giuliano Fragalo, will undertake the Practical Day Course and guide you in-person on Surgical Guide Design and Placement to enhance your learning and understanding.

This module will give you an introduction to the Principles of Guided Surgery and how to acquire accurate Data to construct a Surgical Guide

Learners will be able to:

  • Gain an overview and understanding of what Guided Surgery is
  • Understand what Data is required to construct a Surgical Guide
  • Learn the Principals on how to acquire high quality data as VOL/DICOM from CBCT and STLs from Intraoral Scanners
  • Understand how to Improve the accuracy of guided surgery 
  • Gain an overview of the common errors in Guided Surgery

This module will give you an understanding of the different types of Surgical Guides and their purpose, the Drill Protocols and the potential Pitfalls with Guided Surgery

Learners will be able to:

  • Gain an Overview and understanding of what the aim of Guided Surgery is
  • Have an overview of Digital planning and how to eliminate potential pitfalls
  • Understand the Drill Protocols when using Surgical Guides
  • Understand the Purpose of Skeletal Guides
  • Gain An Overview of the Different Types of Surgical Guides
  • Have An understanding of the Partially Guided vs Fully Guided

This module will give you an understanding of the Workflow with Guided Surgery and how to design a Surgical Guide

Learners will be able to:

  • Gain An Overview and understanding of the Workflow to create a Surgical Guide
  • Gain An overview of the different types of Surgical Guides & their indications
  • Have A Brief understanding of how to design a Surgical Guide using Smop
  • Have An understanding of the use of Surgical Guides via Clinical Scenarios

This module will give you an overall understanding of Pilot Guided Implant Surgery as well as the Pitfalls and Complications via Clinical Scenarios

Learners will be able to:

  • Gain An overview and understanding of Pilot Guided Implant Surgery
  • Understand the Drilling Protocols for Pilot Guided Implant Surgery
  • Understand the Surgical Guide design and materials used for Pilot Guided Implant Surgery for Single and Multiple Unit Cases
  • Gain An understanding of the Pitfalls and Complications from a Clinical Perspective of Pilot Guided Implant Surgery

This module will give you an overall understanding of Fully Guided Implant Surgery as well as the Pitfalls and Complications via Clinical Scenarios

Learners will be able to:

  • Gain An overview and understanding of Fully Guided Implant Surgery
  • Have an Understanding the Drilling Protocols for Fully Guided Implant Surgery
  • Understand the Surgical Guide designs and materials used for Fully Guided Implant Surgery for Single and Multiple Unit Cases
  • Gain An understanding of the Pitfalls and Complications from a Clinical Perspective of Fully Guided Implant Surgery

This module will give you an understanding of the different stages involved in Guided Implant Surgery via Practical Application

Learners will be able to:

  • Have an overview of the data acquisition and the pitfalls that can occur
  • Recognize the different types of Surgical Guides
  • Understand the different Sleeves, Surgical Guide Drill Kits and Protocols used
  • Undertake a Hands-on exercise on designing a Surgical Guide using SMOP for Pilot Guided Only and Fully Guided Surgery
  • Undertake a Hands-on exercise on placement of Implants onto Models, using the Surgical Guide & Kits for both Pilot Only (Initial) and Fully Guided (Integral) Surgery

Dr Giuliano Fragola

DDS MSc PhD

Giuliano qualified from the University of Madrid in 1995, completing his Masters in Implant Dentistry in 1996.

He is a Senior Fellow and past Study Club Committee Member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), as well as an online reviewer and examiner for the prestigious organisation.

Giuliano is also an internationally recognised speaker, and clinical advisor to Anthogyr for Straumann Group digital projects, as well as a practising clinician in a private practice in Spain.

Hugo Patrao

RDT & Head of Medical Service Centre, SMOP

Hugo has a degree in dental technology and has been working with heads of research and development teams from around the world. He is passionate about helping clinicians incorporate new technologies and digital planning into their practices and protocols, designing drilling guides and developing new drilling procedures.

As per regulations, in order to treat dental patients within the UK you are required to have a GDC registration.

If you are a dentist from the outside of the UK, you can still enrol on the course.

As the course does not involve treatment on live patients, it is not mandatory to be registered with your professional body for the course but advised.

To gain the most from the course, we advise that you are a dentist practicing currently.

The course is a Unique Blending Learning Programme – This involves both a Theoretical and a Practical Element.

Theoretical Element – This involves lectures which are provided and assessed online over the course of 5 Modules, within your individual portal.

Practical Element – This involves a Practical Study Day which will include Hands-On Sessions  

The Practical Element Involves Hands-on Exercises guided by the Clinical Instructor on the SMOP Software and on Models.

The Practical Element Involves:

  • An overview of the data acquisition and the pitfalls that can occur
  • Recognizing the different types of Surgical Guides
  • Understanding the different Sleeves, Surgical Guide Drill Kits and Protocols used
  • Undertaking a Hands-on exercise on designing a Surgical Guide using SMOP for Pilot Guided Only and Fully Guided Surgery

We currently use the Anthogyr Implant System.

As a responsible Education Training organisation focused on providing high quality implant training, at Implant Conneqt we decided to keep the implant system fixed within the course. The implant system is selected by the Clinical Leads and is based on the research that the implant is based on.

This doesn’t mean there aren’t any other systems with a similar quality product.

As part of the Practical Day, there will be Hands-on Exercises to allow you to familiarize yourself with the Integral Surgical Guide Drill Kit, Protocols, and placement of an Implant on Models with a Surgical Guide.

Yes.

The Implant Conneqt Postgraduate Short Course has been designed and specifically focused to teach the following dentists:

  1. Those who have little to or no experience in Guided Implant Placement.
  2. Those who have previously undertaken a Course and require more Practical Experience to improve their confidence and competence
  3. Those who want a refresher in Guided Implantology and to add it to their portfolio of skills.

You can enrol anytime in the year and start anytime in the year. There is no set start date but you have 6 Months to complete the course from date of enrolment. (If your Practical Day is more than 6 months from the date of enrolment, it will extend to this date)

The Implant Conneqt Short Course has been designed and specifically focused to give flexibility to dentists, but also allow them to elevate their skills when enrolling on an Education Programme.

We do not offer a Finance Facility for Short Courses.

The Total Fee for the Implant Conneqt Short Courses would need to be paid in Full when enrolling.

The Fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

You are advised to bring any cases with you if you would like to discuss them with the Clinical Instructor, but this is not essential.

Dental Loupes are also advised to reduce strain and fatigue and improve your performance.

The Implant Conneqt Postgraduate Short Course in Surgical Guides has been designed and specifically focused to teach the following dentists:

  1. Those who have little to or no experience in Guided Implant Placement.
  2. Those who have previously undertaken a Course and require more Practical Experience to improve their confidence and competence

Multiple Units are more complex both in terms of Treatment Planning and Surgical Treatment. This isn’t part of the day but if the Clinical Instructor thinks the group will benefit from this or we have time, we will aim to add this in ad hoc.

No. The Short Course and the Practical Day will not include any live patients.  

However, you will be required to have the correct level of Indemnity / Insurance to cover you when undertaking treatment on patients

The cost will be based on your relationship and record with your Professional Indemnity / Insurance.

As an Educational Organisation, we have no influence over this and cannot enrol you onto the Implant Conneqt Course without adequate Professional Indemnity / Insurance Cover.
