Practical

Application of your theory. Our Clinical Lead Lecturer, Dr Dammy Awe, will undertake the Practical Day Session and guide you in-person to enhance your learning and understanding.

This module will give you an introduction & Overview of Clinical Photography

Learners will be able to:

  • Understand how you can utilize clinical photography for growth and personal development
  • Learn the role of clinical photography in treatment planning & smile design
  • Learn Effective use of clinical photography in lab communication
  • Understand the value of Clinical photography for patient records and as a patient communication tool
  • Use Clinical photography as a marketing tool
  • Outline of the typical views needed for good clinical photography
  • Learn and understand the different camera settings

This module will give you an understanding of the technical aspects of Clinical Photography

Learners will be able to:

  • Learn the Exposure Trinity of Photography – ISO, Shutter Speed & Aperture Explained.
  • Understand the Importance of Lighting
  • Learn the Typical Camera Settings in the Dental Setting
  • Understand What do you need to buy to get started with focus on Camera Body, Camera Lenses, Camera Flashes & Accessories

This module will give you an understanding of the Practical aspect of photography via demonstrations:

Learners will be able to understand the following:

  1. Vertical Positioning of clinician for close up and portrait views
  2. Placement of Retractors
  3. Placement of Contrastor
  4. Patient positioning for Occlusal views
  5. Twin flash positioning
  6. 12 O’Clock photo Positioning

This module will give you an understanding of the elements involved in Clinical Photography via Practical Application.

Learners will be able to:

  1. Gain An overview of Clinical Photography and the Technical Aspects to Set-up
  2. Take the relevant Intraoral views and Learn how to take a full clinical series of photographs
  3. Gain an overview of Artistic Photography
  4. Learn how to take Artistic Photography
  5. Learn how to take Studio Style Images

Dr Dammy Awe

Dr Adedamola Awe, aka Dammy, graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2011 and went on to complete postgraduate studies in the UK and abroad, including an extensive 1-year Advanced Aesthetics Course with world renowned dentist Dr Chris Orr.

Dammy advocates for truly patient-focused dentistry and he applies the latest technologies to ensure micro-invasive approach wherever possible.


As the course does not involve treatment on live patients, it is not mandatory to be registered with your professional body for the course but advised when undertake the skills on Live patients in your practice.

To gain the most from the course, we advise that you are a dentist practicing currently.

The course is a Unique Blending Learning Programme – This involves both a Theoretical and a Practical Element.

Theoretical Element – This involves lectures which are provided and assessed online over the course of 3 Modules, within your individual portal.

Practical Element – This involves a Practical Study Day (Half-Day) which will include Hands-On Exercises

The Implant Conneqt Postgraduate Short Course has been designed and specifically focused to teach the following dentists:

  1. Those who have little to or no experience in Clinical Photography.
  2. Those who have previously undertaken a Course and require more Practical Experience to improve their confidence and competence
  3. Those who want a refresher in Clinical Photography Skills and to add it to their portfolio of skills.
  4. Those who are experienced Clinicians and want to Clinical Photography Skills to add it to their portfolio

The Practical Element Involves Hands-on Exercises guided by the Clinical Instructor on a live model.

During the Practical day you will:

  1. Gain An overview of Clinical Photography and the Technical Aspects to Set-up
  2. Take the relevant Intraoral views and Learn how to take a full clinical series of photographs on a Live Model
  3. Gain an overview of Artistic Photography
  4. Learn how to take Artistic Photography
  5. Learn how to take Studio Style Images

Yes

As part of the Practical Day, there will be Hands-on Exercises to allow you to familiarize yourself with Clinical Photography on a Live model in a Dental Surgery Mock Setting.

We will not be able to have every camera product available on the market but a fair range to allow you to understand the difference between accessories when undertaking the Hands-on exercises.  

For the Practical Day, you are advised to bring the following:

  1. Your SLR Camera (if already using in surgery)
    1. Accessories (You currently use if any)

You are advised to bring any cases with you if you would like to discuss them with the Clinical Instructor, but this is not essential.

We advise you to bring a Scrub Top for the day but this is not essential. We will provide the necessary Equipment for the day.

The Implant Conneqt Postgraduate Short Course in Clinical Photography has been designed and specifically focused to teach the following dentists:

  1. Those who have little to or no experience in Clinical Photography.

Advanced photography skills are more complex both in terms of Technical Set-up and Skill. This is not part of the day but if the Clinical Instructor thinks the group will benefit from this or we have time, we will aim to add this in ad hoc.

You can enrol anytime in the year and start anytime in the year. There is no set start date but you have 6 Months to complete the course from date of enrolment. (If your Practical Day is more than 6 months from the date of enrolment, it will extend to this date)

The Implant Conneqt Short Course has been designed and specifically focused to give flexibility to dentists, but also allow them to elevate their skills when enrolling on an Education Programme.

We do not offer a Finance Facility for Short Courses.

The Total Fee for the Implant Conneqt Short Courses would need to be paid in Full when enrolling.

The Fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

Your Course Fee includes the online E-Portal Access and Lectures, as well as the Practical Day.

No. The Short Course and the Practical Day will not include any live patients. 

However, you will be required to have the correct level of Indemnity / Insurance to cover you for the when undertaking treatment on patients.

The cost will be based on your relationship and record with your Professional Indemnity / Insurance.

As an Educational Organisation, we have no influence over this and cannot enrol you onto the Implant Conneqt Course without adequate Professional Indemnity / Insurance Cover.
